"More than 20 years" experience
I have, let's just say, "more than 20" years’ experience in health care —̶ first as a respiratory therapist (RT), and then as both an RT and a registered nurse. I have published more than 150 articles in the professional literature for my colleagues, and I regularly provide continuing education lectures and seminars at national conventions across the country. I believe that, as a health care provider, I not only have a responsibility to stay up-to-date myself, but to also educate patients, and now, consumers nationwide. I also believe that if I can share my clinical knowledge with my professional colleagues, and that helps them provide better care, then ultimately their patients benefit. Those are the most important contributions I can make to health care.
Best Job in the World
I love what I do. After spending 12 years as an ER nurse (1990-2002) after practicing in critical care, pediatrics and general nursing practice, I became the volunteer health coordinator for the homeless shelter in my community. Currently, I am working with a development corporation in Connecticut to bring a federally funded community health center to the largest city in the state without one.
Join Me in a Profession That Touches Lives
Health care is a profession in which we can make a difference in people’s lives nearly every day. Sadly, fewer people are now choosing a career in the health professions. There are decreased enrollments in all health-related educational programs — not just nursing. Therefore, you will also find links here if you would like to join us in a career that is the toughest job you’ll ever love. There’s nothing like it, and I can’t imagine doing anything else.
With best wishes for good health,
